Science and Art have always been an
integral part of my life. I earned my B.S. degree in Biology at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. Over the last 15 years, I have worked on habitat improvement for the U.S. Forest Service, and been involved with several zoos as zookeeper, volunteer and educator. I am currently a
veterinary assistant at the Exotic Pet and Bird Clinic, a veterinary clinic specializing in exotic pet medicine and emergency care for injured wildlife.
My art is an attempt to capture in an image the magic inherent in every
living being and to create for the viewer a "connection" with the
Natural World and to the world of the Imagination. I am fascinated by
the infinite possibilities of expression that Life can take. It is not hard to
see how this leads right into fantasy art. What is Fantasy but an
"exploration of the possible".
I never really gave art much serious thought as a career until recently. I did not realize how important a part of my life it truly was, until I found myself working too many hours during the week to have much time for my
artistic "hobbies". Since then I have started my own business - WildLyfe Images & Fantasy
Art - which includes pursuits in Illustration, textile
& fibre art, fantasy dolls, graphic art, miniatures and more.
I have done illustration for magazines, and participated in fine art shows. Several of my pieces have been exhibited in
galleries. I have designed and developed educational displays for The Rainier Audubon Society, Woodland Park Zoo and other animal related organizations.
